Bikram Yoga, by admin.

Bikram Yoga- Hot yoga, is a fast growing health trend in America. Founded by Bikram Choudhury, a former weight lifter, Olympic gold medalist, and disciple of Bishnu Ghosh. Choudhury describe his method hot yoga as “torture chambers” and for good reason. Comprehensive methods are practiced in heated rooms of 95- 115 degrees in temperature. Usually the humidity is maintained high around 60%.

Heated yoga rooms not only promote flexibility and detoxification, but they prevent injuries from stretching and working muscles. Heat increases the metabolic rate, allowing you to stretch more. Hot yoga is not for everyone. You must be in good physical shape before beginning to sweat through your pains and mental anguishes. Doing too much to quickly can result in injury. It is important for you to move at your own pace for flexibility and progress before moving onto the next level. Don’t be swayed to move along too fast. Set your goals small and work towards them. Postures that require extreme flexibility such as squatting of folding your legs may cause tears in the muscle or soft tissue and should be done at your comfortable own pace.
